dragonflies in amber (2025)

dragonflies in amber (2025) is an abstract, five-song EP that journeys through different aspects of memory. It features instruments like baritone ukulele, guitar, flute, and folk-style vocals.

My summer EP, dragonflies in amber is officially finished!

These five songs follow the internal metamorphosis of feeling emotionally stagnant to learning how to accept and release the past, making space for new memories. I’ve titled this EP dragonflies in amber to represent these expressions frozen in time—much like dragonflies preserved in amber. The songs are minimalist, with deliberately abstract lyrics. Rather than unfolding a linear, cinematic story, they offer fragmented, loopable snapshots of internal dialogue.

Additionally, each song represents a different aspect of memory:

  • “a dragonfly” = the looping, haunting presence of memory. amber is used as a metaphor for memories trapped in time.

  • “two clouds” = impermanence; the loss of something beautiful and momentary.

  • “forget-me-not” = the yearning to be preserved in someone else’s memory; pleading with God to be remembered in our transience.

  • “all in my head” = self-denial; trauma from past memories.

  • “amber, shattered” = the will to surrender / release a memory to time.
